I drowned my sorry-for-myself in a poem
and a handful of fresh raspberries
wearing the juice as I ate them,
for they were fresh and ripe and sweet-soft...

and then Murphy the cat demanded my attention
bringing me back to a hard-packed earth
and the necessity of giving medicine to a creature
whose love was never conditional
but just.... IS.

Just now, so many geese flew over my house
the sky became black for a moment
the air
and my senses
were filled with their calls.
They went toward the West
and I just realized
if I go
West
far
enough
it is going East

Are you East
or are you West or
are you both at the same time?
In my way,
even if I am not there with you
I am there with you.

I do so love mysteries...
