I WISHED
|
I dreamt of you,
envisioned you
alone in a dimly lit room
deep in thought
and mired, so profoundly sunken
in your loneliness.
I could not let this be,
for you and I — we —
had fallen into friendship...
I wished, and then,
I was sitting by you,
shoulder to shoulder,
whispering my secrets
(for I knew they would be
safe with you)
and listening as you
whispered your secrets
to me...
Shoulder to shoulder,
heads bent close,
smiles in the dark
and only the faintest shadows
of the tears
we have cried
still remained,
for those things
which no longer remain...
