| Two of my favorite poetic forms are
the Japanese HAIKU and TANKA. I have always liked non-rhyming verse,
and the simplicity of these forms can be deceptive. Marvelously
complex ideas have been laid forth in these fashions by some of the
world's most talented poets. Here are a few of my efforts along
those lines... |
Stones look forever
Yet to sand they are rendered
Permanence a lie
Only time will ever win
Rendered to dust are we too |
|
I dream in music
Soaring swelling crescendos
Ethereal songs
I wish I could remember
When I am full awake |
| |
|
I |
Eccentricity
In just another name for
Going one's own way
Do not try to follow me
My path is not yours to walk |
|
Fog mutes my footsteps
Helping the world learn quiet
I walk more softly
And it sounds louder to me
How does one find the silence |
| |
|
|
That purple sunset
So beautiful yet fleeting
The color changes
It is not the same sunset
It was a moment ago |
|
I grow exhausted
Yet all I can do is write
The words keep flowing
Through fingers onto paper
From thought to reality |
| |
|
|
Discipline be mine
And let me always do right
Lest I fall into
A trap of my devising
That I cannot climb out of |
|
I pray for patience
And for that God makes me wait
But I need it now
If it were anything else
It would be here yesterday |
